Diferenças entre a Islândia e a Gronelândia

Se teve a oportunidade de visitar a Islândia, tem de concordar que as estradas estão em muito bom estado. Assim que é bastante fácil circular por sua própria conta e risco. Mas, ainda que mais pequena, a Islândia é bastante mais urbanizada. Assim como o seu clima é bastante mais ameno. Portanto, isto permite que, durante maior parte do ano, viaje sem um guia turístico. Sobretudo se assim o desejar.

Visitar a Gronelândia é diferente. Em primeiro lugar, é bastante mais remota. Os seus cenários são dramáticos. Bem como brutos e crus. E ainda que seja possível durante o Verão, fica a nossa recomendação de que embarque numa tour organizada. Assim poderá aproveitar este país ao máximo.

Com paisagens de tons brancos e azuis a perder de vista, a Gronelândia tem uma dimensão 4x superior a França. No entanto, para quem acha que mora pouca gente na Islândia, a população da Gronelândia é ainda 5x inferior.

Nunca imaginamos poder visitar o Círculo Polar Ártico em todo o seu esplendor. Contudo, na Gronelândia, é possível avistar icebergues que mais parecem ilhéus bem como glaciares que tocam a linha do horizonte.

A força da natureza

Ursos polares, raposas do ártico e orcas

A saber: há ursos polares, raposas do ártico, baleias e orcas. Pois estas estão entre algumas das espécies animais que constituem a fauna da Gronelândia.

Assim sendo, cerca de 70% de todos os ursos polares do mundo encontram-se na Gronelândia.

Por conseguinte, sabia que existe uma quota para o número de ursos polares que é possível abater na Gronelândia? Em caso de perigo, os caçadores são autorizados a abater os ursos polares que os atacam. Mas passados os limites da quota, não há nada a fazer a não ser correr!

Atividades ao ar livre

Ainda que frio, há muito para descobrir e fazer quando visitar a Gronelândia.

É possível escolher desde viagens de avião ou helicóptero a passeios de barco junto aos icebergues. Mas não fica por aí.

Para os mais aventureiros é ainda possível realizar caminhadas ao ar livre, navegar com caiaques, fazer esqui numa imensidão de tons brancos e azuis ou, para os mais preguiçosos, ser puxado num trenó por uma matilha de cães.

Disko Bay

Icebergues a perder de vista

É impossível falar em trenós puxados por cães sem falar em Disko Bay e Ilulissat, onde a população de cães iguala (ou quase!) a população humana que habita na baía. O fiorde, onde Ilulissat fica situada, foi decretado Património Natural pela UNESCO em 2004 e é um dos locais mais visitados da Gronelândia.

Delicie-se com uma viagem de trenó com vista para os icebergues que, diariamente, se passeiam lentamente nas águas gélidas de Disko Bay. Ou, se preferir chegar-se mais próximo dos icebergues, por que não uma viagem de barco?

Ao visitar o sul da Gronelândia é possível encontrar o impensável: planícies verdejantes. E é nestas planícies acidentadas que a população local trata do seu gado e do feno que a terra produz, como método de subsistência.

Quando visitar a Gronelândia, Nuuk será o seu ponto de chegada e o seu ponto de partida.

A cidade foi fundada em 1728 e cerca de 1/3 da população da Gronelândia habita em Nuuk. As suas temperaturas médias rondam os -8ºC no Inverno e os 6ºC no Verão.

Visite a casa de Hans Egede – a casa mais antiga da Gronelândia -, a lindíssima Catedral de Nuuk e o Museu Nacional.
