Faroe Islands are popular for puffin watching

🇫🇴 The Faroe Islands, located in the North Atlantic between Iceland and Norway, are a popular destination for bird and puffin watching. There are several reasons why the Faroes are an excellent place to see these winged creatures up close.

Firstly, the Faroe Islands are located in the middle of the North Atlantic migratory route, making it a vital stopover point for many species of birds. During the spring and summer months, the Faroes are home to many different bird species, including migratory birds such as Arctic Terns, Black Guillemots, and Northern Fulmars.

Secondly, the rugged and diverse landscape of the Faroe Islands provides a unique habitat for many bird species. The islands’ steep cliffs and rocky coastlines provide an ideal nesting site for seabirds such as Puffins, Guillemots, and Kittiwakes.

Finally, the Faroe Islands’ relatively small population and lack of heavy industry mean that the environment is clean and healthy, providing a perfect ecosystem for many bird species to thrive.

When it comes to puffin watching, the Faroe Islands are considered one of the best places in the world to observe these cute and charismatic birds. The puffins typically arrive in the Faroes in late April or early May to breed and can be seen in large numbers until August or September.
