Southern Iceland: the Southeast

From the Southern Fertile Ground to the Vatnajökull Glacier

On the second day of the trip, you will continue your route through the South of Iceland. You must wake up early, as it is an absolutely unmissable day. There are at least two mandatory tours (HERE and HERE).

Before reaching Skaftafell for your glacier tour, you should stop at the Fjaðrárglíufur gorge. You have to go up a bit, but the view is worth it.

The journey continues along the south coast towards Skaftafell National Park and the Vatnajökull glacier. In Skaftafell you should do a 3-hour hike on the Vatnajökull glacier – find out more HERE. Just think: when will you be able to step on a glacier again?! It’s your unique opportunity to do something that (almost) only Iceland can offer. After this exhilarating experience, stop by one of the best kept secrets on the island: the Freysnes Lamb Burger. Trust us. There is no equal.
